There are a few products on the market nowadays which might work well to whiten your teeth. One thing to keep in mind is that teeth whiteners can only do so much for your teeth, meaning that they’re not “magic” fixes. Teeth whitening products work best when paired with a healthy mouth and gums, whether you buy them at the store, or get them at your local dentist. Most people normally experience two types of discoloration: one is natural, and age–related. The other one comes from things linked to lifestyle choices. You can think of teeth whitening as a “tooth bleach” which gets our teeth back to that glimmering shine we all love. The natural dulling of the teeth can usually be remedied with teeth whitening products, but they won’t put much of a dent in stains caused by neglect. A patient who doesn’t regularly go to the dentist may find that the whitening material will find their cavities well before the dentist does!
There are some over-the-counter products which’ll do the trick, but since many are not dentist-approved, it’s anyone’s guess. One effective product you can purchase at your local big box store is Crest Whitestrips®. However, the higher-quality kits that your dentist keeps around are totally different from the store-bought stuff. They contain a much greater concentration and we actually have to pull out a gum-shield because of its power! In our opinion, the best bang -for-the-buck in teeth whitening is going to come from a home bleaching kit. It’s like this: you wear a mouthguard, and gel-based whitening materials are placed in a nice little tray. Many people usually wear this overnight while they are sleeping. Some other people may want to wear it during the day, they’re just so convenient. They’re meant for about an hour (or two) of use, and will set you back about $500.00 on average. Some over-the-counter whitening products will work, but the best results come from that which comes with the assistance and guidance of a dentist.
