Here are some tips for taking care of your dental veneers: Observe god oral hygiene. Like your teeth, your veneers should be cleaned by brushing and flossing them regularly. Non-abrasive and fluoride-rich toothpaste should be used in cleaning your veneers. It is also important to have your teeth and veneers to be professionally cleaned at least twice a year to prevent plaque build-up. Although porcelain veneers resist staining, the cement used in bonding the veneers to your teeth is easily stained by colored beverages and foods like coffee and tea. If you cannot avoid these beverages and foods in your diet, try to minimize your consumption. Avoid biting and chewing on hard and crunchy foods and hard things such as pencils and ice. Although veneers are known to be durable especially those made from porcelain materials, they cannot withstand extreme biting and chewing forces. It is also advised to avoid clenching and grinding your teeth. For people with bruxism, a night guard should be used to protect your veneers from clenching and grinding forces.
